While most major apps are fairly good when it comes to power use, the occasional runaway app can sometimes drain the heck out of your battery.
To track down the culprits,
on Nexus devices
open Settings > Device > Battery (
on Galaxy phones
you can likely find it under System > Power saving) and scroll down to below the battery graph to see a list of both system processes and apps/games, sorted by their power use.
Screen should usually be at the top of that list.
